So, Luke was five months old last week! I'm so behind on posting. He's rolling both ways now, from tummy to back and back to tummy. He can get to the toy he wants if it's within a couple feet of him by either rolling or turning himself by arching his back and scooting his feet.
At five months Luke is mellowing out a little more every day. He is a very high strung baby, but is becoming happier by the day. He is content to play with his toys on the floor or in his exersaucer for fairly long periods of time. He is getting pretty good at arching his back and twisting his body on the floor to get himself closer to the toy he wants. He grabs at his feet, and has started actually getting a hold of them pretty often. My man has no desire to sleep through the night. Sometimes lack of sleep makes me feel like I'm going to lose my mind, but then I get to hold him when he's all snuggly and asleep and I forget that it's 3 am and I've already been up four times.
Luke goes through periods where he's very vocal and other periods when he's really quiet. I think he likes the sound of his voice in certain places, like the house in Ocean City which is very open and at church where the ceilings are really high. Nobody at church seems to mind him "talking" throughout the service though, they tell us how cute he is and what a joy it is to have a baby there.
You know what the frustrating thing about blogging is? The fact that my very favorite things about Luke can't be captured with pictures or words. It's a million tiny things that can't really be described. So, these will have to do.
This is what I get when I change him during the night. He rolls over and goes back to sleep on his changing table.

sleeping on his tummy! sometimes when he rolls on his tummy he cries and I have to flip him, sometimes he flips himself, and sometimes he just falls right back to sleep.

Sage's 7th Birthday
Sage is turning 7 tomorrow and I can't believe it! I've known her since she was an infant. Bonnie became Sage's nanny when she was two months old (I believe). Sage's mom, Tammy, owns a salon in Waldorf where I worked briefly and my mom worked as a receptionist for several years up until Luke was born. Our families are very intertwined, and I've watched her grow up from a very shy little girl who wouldn't speak to anybody, to a very smart little lady with a great sense of humor and a huge love for Luke! I didn't get any pictures of her with Luke yesterday because her and all her friends were running around like crazy and I couldn't catch her long enough to get her to sit down with him.

Who Was Luke?
Luke was a medical doctor who traveled with a missionary named Paul. Luke probably used his medical skills may times to treat sick people along the way.
Luke is most famous for writing two books- the Gospel of Luke and Acts of the Apostles. Luke wasn't a Jew, and that comes across in his writing. He makes sure readers know that Jesus came to save everyone, not just the Jews. "People will come from all over the world to take their places in the Kingdom of God" (Luke 13:29)
Luke was also a brave man. He stayed with Paul to the end when the Romans killed Paul. When Paul wrote his last letter from jail, he said everyone else had left him. "Only Luke is with me." (2 Timothy 4:11)
Will our Luke be a very brave doctor some day? Anything is possible... (p.s.- RIGHT after I wrote that last sentence the Vikings scored and Tommy said "maybe you'll be the next Brett Favre, Luke!" Ours dreams are slightly different :))
I know it's a little wispy, but this is Luke's first faux hawk
come on ma, I'm trying to rock out in my exersaucer
silly face
seriously... another pic?

Visiting Uncle Kirk
Last night we went to Johnny and Susan's house for dinner and to visit with Uncle Kirk, who is living with them temporarily. Johnny built their house a couple of years ago and we've never made it over, so it was nice to finally see their BEAUTIFUL house. Kirk missed the baby and was very happy to see him. Susan made us a great dinner and we got to catch up and chat for a while.
Today we're going to Sage's 7th birthday party, so I'll have some pictures hopefully tomorrow.

Boring Week... Except for Fight Night
I'm way behind in blogging, but there hasn't been much going on. Luke has had a little cough for the past few days, and doesn't seem like he's feeling very well so I haven't been taking too many pictures. I fed him rice from a bowl the other day instead of putting it in his bottle. He actually did pretty well. In the beginning he was spitting it out and making really terrible faces, but he seemed to get the hang of it after a while. So, I'm going to start giving him a little rice breakfast every day and in a couple weeks start giving him some fruit in the morning. This little punk is not even close to sleeping through the night. I'm wondering if it will ever happen.
Last night Tommy and I went to UFC's fight night at the Patriot Center. I got Tommy tickets for Christmas. We had a good time, although we didn't get home until 1! I think I'm coming down with a cold, so not getting much rest last night probably didn't help much. I can't really think of anything notable that happened since the last time I blogged, so I'll just leave it at that with a few pictures!
Peaceful baby. Not looking forward to the day when the pacifier has to go away.
Chunky butt after his bath. Isn't he getting so big?!
