Happy Halloween!

Luke was my little super hero this morning while we did a little shopping and then once we came home he changed into his second look of the day, my little frog prince. It was way too hot for either of them though, so now he's chilling in a comfy Halloween onesie. I don't think I'll be putting either of his costumes back on him, he's had his clothes changed enough for one day. But he was so cute in both of his outfits! Now we're just sitting at home waiting for the trick or treaters to show up any minute! It's so fun to get trick or treaters after growing up in Nanjemoy with absolutely none.

The Week In Pictures

Not much to say, a pretty uneventful week since Luke's doctor's appointment. He has a really wet cough that he's had since last weekend that's really starting to worry me. He's not showing any other symptoms of being sick though, so hoping it just goes away. I mentioned it to the doctor at his appointment on Monday but I guess his chest sounded fine and she didn't find any cause for concern. It just seems like it's been hanging around for a long time now.

As you'll see in the pictures, Luke is still adorable and perfect in every way :) He has been making lots of cooing noises and kicking his legs and flailing his arms alot. He keeps his fists balled up pretty often, even when he's perfectly content. When he gets excited sometimes he punches himself in the eye, so I call them fists of fury :) Tonight as soon as I put him in the bath he started smiling SO BIG! I didn't get any pictures- the one below is from a bath earlier this week. I have a really hard time getting smiling pictures of him because as soon as I put my big black camera anywhere near his face he stops smiling. Or, if I have to use the flash it projects kind of an orange light on his face while it focuses and that always makes him stop smiling too! Speaking of my camera, it's awful! I feel like I spent at least 200.00 too much on it. Maybe I need to read up on it more and find out how to really use it, but to me, when you pay as much for a camera as we did, you should be able to put it on the auto setting and get a good shot every time. I take so many blurry pictures!!!

I love Daddy and me time!

and baths aren't so bad, either!

I like to make spit bubbles alot now!

I get bored pretty easily... can't you tell?

and sometimes I hate having my diaper changed

but other times it's not so bad!

and I give mom and dad big smiles!

tonight kicks off Halloween outfit week- he has at least one Halloween outfit per day :)

Beautiful Boy

Beautiful Boy By John Lennon

Close your eyes,
Have no fear,
The monster's gone,
He's on the run and your daddy's here,

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,

Before you go to sleep,
Say a little prayer,
Every day in every way,
It's getting better and better,

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,

Out on the ocean sailing away,
I can hardly wait,
To see you to come of age,
But I guess we'll both,
Just have to be patient,
Yes it's a long way to go,
But in the meantime,

Before you cross the street,
Take my hand,
Life is just what happens to you,
While your busy making other plans,

Beautiful,beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,
Darling, darling, darling Boy.

Two Months Old!

Luke is two months old today and I can't believe how big our little man is getting! He's 10.15 lbs and (according to the doctor) 21". I'm pretty sure that's wrong. The poor guy can't get an accurate height taken. He was measured at 21" at birth, then 19 3/4 at 2 weeks, and now I'm pretty sure he's closer to 22" at least, but she said 21. At two months Luke is very strong. He can hold his head up for long periods of time and has very strong little legs that will kick you when he's mad! He grasps things well, like fingers, toys, and hair. He smiles alot lately and even laughed out loud in his sleep the other morning. He's still eating three ounces about every three hours. He loves to look up at the sheep and stars mobile on his swing. He also loves his little rainforest thing that plays music and lights up. And he LOVES the song his Grandma sings to him, "Who's Your Little Who Zis."

I find myself saying at least five times a day "He is SO cute!" I just look at his sweet little face and different expressions he's making every day and little noises he's making and as much as I love this time when he's so tiny, I just can't wait for him to become a little man with even more personality... I know, I should never ever wish for him to grow up because I'll miss this time when it's gone. I'm just so excited to see what the future holds for our family.

Daycare Week

My Mom stayed behind in Ocean City until last night, so Luke spent Tuesday-Thursday at my friend Cyndi's "As I Grow" daycare. Katie and Claire (my friend Sarah's girls) go to the same daycare, so Luke had friends there. Katie would start saying Baby Luke! as soon as he walked in the door and Cyndi said she continued to say it all day. It sounded a little like "Yuke." So cute! He did very well at Cyndi's and I'm so thankful that when my Mom's not around I have someone who I know and completely trust taking care of him. So, here's pictures from each morning before we left, just because he's so cute :)

A Little Behind...

So I'm just now getting around to blogging about my fabulous weekend last week. I rode up with my Mom, Luke, Bonnie, and Melissa on Friday afternoon. We arrived around the same time as Carrie and Ryan, my Dad was already there, and Tommy and Steve couldn't come until Saturday. Friday night we went out and got some dinner and then Bonnie, Melissa, and I went to see No Green Jelly Beenz (a band from around here) at Fager's Island. You wouldn't believe how much fun we had, just the three of us. Eeeeeeverything was funny :) Saturday we went out to lunch and then to the Oktoberfest/craft fair at the Convention Center, then went out to dinner after Tommy and Steve arrived. We went out to the karaoke bar in Ocean City, The Sandbar, which is one of our favorite hot mess hangouts. It seems like no matter how awful the experience we continue to go back over and over and over and by the end of the night we always have so much fun. Tommy, Melissa, me, and Callie (friend of a friend we met up with at the bar) sang "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey... well, actually, Tommy just shouted the song into the microphone and did not share with me very well :) Sunday we went to the boardwalk, back out to dinner, and then just played games at the house because we were worn out! We went shopping on Monday and then started packing. I was really sad to come home on Monday. I always hate leaving the beach house. Every time we go I start thinking of ways that Tommy and I could move there. Nothing logical ever comes out of these thoughts. It was just a great time, Luke was spoiled rotten and got to spend lots of quality time with his family. I just feel like I laughed my way through the weekend except for brief recovery periods after each of my nights out. My Mom took great care of the baby while I went out and acted like a fool so thanks, Mama!! I look forward to this trip every year- the whole family, no matter what, all together, every October.

Right when we arrived, just hanging out on the porch at the house

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Tomorrow (Thursday) is Tommy's 27th birthday. Unfortunately I'll be in school from 9-9 so I won't really get to spend any time with him, but I can't really afford to miss school right now and we have a nice long weekend together coming up. We're not doing gifts for our birthdays, which is normal for us, but I still had to get him a little something so I made him a CD and got some odds and ends at Walgreens including an "I love Daddy" magnetic frame and the two pictures below printed so he can hang them up in his locker at work. Don't know if he'll want to hang up the one of him crying, but I thought it was kind of funny and cute :) I didn't have alot of time to get the pictures, I had to sneak upstairs really quick during the day today and snap them. Luke was such a happy smiley boy today. My mom sings this song to him that I've never heard before. She says it's an old Dean Martin song. He seems to absolutely love it. He always reacts when she sings it.

3 days 'til Luke's first trip to O.C.!

Not too much to update today. Luke had his first slumber party with my mom on Friday night. Tommy and I went to Hop's in Alexandria and to see "The Invention of Lying." The movie wasn't too funny and I was super restless. I've realized I don't like going to the movies anymore, I can't sit still that long. Luke did great for my mom and I slept like a log, but as soon as I woke up at 6:30 Saturday morning all I wanted to do was give him a good snuggle so I drove down there right away and snatched him up. Yesterday was my first day back to school and my new schedule is Monday and Thursday school for hopefully 12 hours (or as long as I can stand it) and Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday work. So, I stayed the whole 12 hours yesterday and it was SO HARD being away from him for that long. My mom came to my house during the day to watch him, and Tommy took over when he got off work. I wanted to keep calling and seeing how everything was going but I limited it to two calls to my mom and one to Tommy, so I think I did pretty well :) I have completed 850 hours of school and have 650 to go. I'm trying to get it over with as fast as possible!! I'm shooting for early May. I hate hate hate being away from my family for that long. This is still better than the hours I was doing before I had the baby, which was working every day and school every evening, M-Th 4-9 pm. This weekend my whole family (parents, two sisters, all of our significant others, and Melissa Speake (she's our fake sister)) is going to Ocean City and I absolutely can't wait. We are all so excited to get to spend time together, go out and have some fun, and of course spoil Luke to death. Here's a few pictures from over the past few days.

what can I say... the man feels the need to profess his love for his mom :) p.s... what's up with those pants? haha I don't think he'll be wearing them again.

Smiley Boy

Just a quick picture of a cute smile I got out of Luke earlier. I had him propped up in the corner of the couch and we were having a little chat that he was really enjoying. I'm a loser who can't operate my camera, so of course it's a little blurry... like all the good pictures I get :)

aaaand he's spent...

Getting Big!

So, this morning I got an estimated weight on Luke by standing on the scale with and without him. 10.5 pounds! I can't believe it! He was born at 6 lbs 12.6 oz, was 7 lbs 2 oz at his two week appointment and now he's somewhere around 10 lbs 8 oz?! I can't believe how fast he's growing. I've been putting Karo syrup in his bottles three times a day (per his doctor) to help him with constipation, and I'm thinking those extra calories are really starting to pack it on! Here's a couple pictures from my cell phone today.

he doesn't look too happy to be playing with his activity mat

so serious. This outfit is so cute :)

Tommy and I are going out on a real true date tomorrow to dinner and a movie and leaving Luke with my mom overnight. When I was pregnant I would say "I'm not leaving him overnight until he's AT LEAST a few months old!" Well... things change :) Tommy and I are so ready to have a night just for us and I so trust my mom with the baby so hopefully I won't worry too much and hopefully I won't be driving to her house in the middle of the night to pick him up. I think I'll be able to resist!
