Our Weekend In O.C.

Luke and I headed to Ocean City on Thursday night and came home Monday afternoon.  Tommy had lots of stuff going on this weekend and couldn’t come, but my parents and Melissa and Becca were with us.  We had such a wonderful weekend.  Friday was a great beach day and Luke is very content just sitting in the sand, filling up buckets with his shovel.  He does NOT like the water.

After a nice day in the sun we had dinner together and then Luke relaxed with MiMi (my mom has a new name… she’s no longer Grandma) before bed.

Saturday I left Luke with my Mom and headed to the outlets and picked up some awesome clearance at Carter’s for the boys, and some really good clearance at Bath and Body Works.  Then, I had a crappy pedicure and headed home.

Sunday was back to the beach!

This is the only picture I took on Sunday- Luke getting the sand rinsed off of him by Becca.  He actually really enjoyed that cold shower but this picture doesn’t really show it.  I got “Scopes” done of him on Sunday and had a bunch of keychains made for Luke’s biggest fans.  They came out SO cute.

It was a great relaxing weekend, and even though we missed Daddy big time, I’m so happy we got some time at the beach.

22 Months!

Luke just hit 22 months and is turning into such a big boy!  Well, he’s still tiny, but you know what I mean :)

*This morning I asked him what he wanted for breakfast and he answered me “oatmeal.”  It’s so weird to ask a question and actually get an answer!

*He also told me “bless you” the other night when I sneezed.  But, I think it was a one time thing because when Tommy came in the room and I fake sneezed to show him, Luke just looked at Tommy and wrinkled up his nose and said “neeze.”

*He LOVES his “boops” right now, and we read about 10 books to him every night.

*This child went from having no interest in television to a full blown Elmo obsession in about 48 hours.

*He loves his Pop Pop (my Dad) and talks about him all the time.

*He loves the pool, and is constantly asking his Daddy to take him in the wa-wa.

*He can be pretty moody sometimes and will just randomly burst into tears for no good reason.  Definitely showing some of that soon to be two year old attitude.  But, most of the time he’s laid back and fun loving.

Of course I’m hurrying this post and leaving out 100 things, so I’ll try to remember some things and add on later…

28 Weeks!!!

Your Baby:

  • Continues to get a longer and fatter by the day. Shocking, I know. His or her weight has actually doubled in the past month alone, which is why you’ve probably gotten comments about “popping” recently.
  • Weight is around 2.5 pounds right now, which (if you’re like me, gazing in horror and your inside-out belly button and spidery stretch marks) might sound a little frightening, since the baby clearly needs to gain a LOT MORE WEIGHT before he or she is fully cooked, and oh my God, how in the world is anything bigger going to fit in there?

You:

  • Are either feeling like this pregnancy will NEVER end, or that 12 more weeks is simply not nearly enough time to prepare. Or you might feel both ways, changing your mind one minute to the next.
  • Must move furniture and fold clothes and organize the linen closet and replace the bathroom vanity and finally get rid of that sooty stain on the marble fireplace and yes, DARLING, these are all essential tasks that MUST be completed before the baby gets here, DO NOT ARGUE WITH ME, NOW GO HANG UP SOME SHELVES.

Third trimester!  So excited!  Definitely nesting.  Big time.  I’m trying to get rid of a bunch of junk that has accumulated in the spare bedroom, which is soon to be Luke’s new room.  It’s kind of a catch all of all of those things that I don’t want to throw away but don’t have a need for right now.  But, this stuff is going to have to go one way or another.  I’m feeling good most of the time, just pretty exhausted by the time I get home from work and I get out of breath SO easily.  Just walking up the basement steps at my parent’s house, which I do about 10 times a day when I’m at work, or walking through the grocery store and I’m huffing and puffing!

That’s Luke on the left at 28 weeks and Dylan on the right at 28 weeks… way different!

Father’s Day

Our Father’s Day was great, but I didn’t take any pictures.  I have been so horrible about picking up my camera lately!  We hung out around the house in the morning, and then went to Capt. Billy’s for crabs for lunch.  When we got back from lunch, I really wanted to visit with my Dad, and Tommy seemed to want some serenity at home, so I headed to Nanjemoy and Tommy stayed home, played PS3, napped, and watched tv.  Luke and I had dinner with my parents and Aunt Carrie, and then headed home and spent some more QT with Daddy before bedtime.  Here are some of my favorite Luke/Tommy pictures from the last 22 months.

When I was pregnant with Luke I worried every single day.  I made myself crazy with it.  I would tell him about how scared I was that I would nitpick him to death until I sent him over the edge!  He told me I was being ridiculous.  I had this vision of myself standing over his shoulder criticizing his every parental move.  Then, Luke arrived, I relaxed (a little), and Tommy exceeded every single expectation I had ever had.  He is such a great Dad, and I know he’ll just get better heading into fatherhood of two boys!

Random Catch Up

Here’s a few pictures from the past couple of weeks.  We went to Mikayla’s birthday party at the Bowling Alley on base.  Luke was skeptical of the whole bowling thing at first, but ended up loving it!  Very cool venue for a kid’s party.

Sunday we had The Elliotts and the Magills over for some pool time and a cookout.  Jamie and Franzi had baby Charlie almost three months ago and I hadn’t met him!  I’m such a bad cousin.  So, we got to spend some QT together on Sunday.

26 Weeks

I’ve been slacking big time on the weekly updates, but I had to jump in and say a few words about the last week of the second trimester.  I’ll let Alphamom say a few words for me first:

Your Baby:

  • Is almost two pounds. Celebrate this milestone with a two-pound box of chocolates. You know, in order to really get a good VISUAL.
  • Remember those early bubbly butterfly kicks? Yeah. Those have been replaced by something akin to a rabid mongoose flippin’ out inside a burlap sack.
  • If you DO occasionally feel smaller, rhythmic movements in your belly, it’s probably your baby hiccupping. Babies actually get hiccups from late in the first trimester on, but most women don’t pick on them the second trimester or later.
  • All five senses are fully developed. Whoa.

You:

  • Are in the last and final week of the second trimester! (At least according to the books I’ve chosen to listen to — some mark the beginning of the third trimester as week 27, while some make you wait until week 28. Look, we’re all big and lumpy and ridiculously cranky, let’s get this final trimester STARTED.)
  • Of course, the end of the second trimester also marks the end of the so-called “honeymoon” phase of pregnancy, as the final three months can get awfully uncomfortable. Back and joint pain, swollen ankles, restless nights and Braxton-Hicks contractions, ahoy!
  • You’ll gain about 1/2 inch in belly/fundal size EVERY WEEK from this point on, oh mah gah. I guess I should stop being so smug about those pre-pregnancy lowrise jeans I’ve been wearing (with just a little help from my trusty rubber band).
  • The books say we’ve gained about 16-22 pounds, so long as we’ve been following a “nutritious and sensible diet plan.” Bite me, books.

We had an ultrasound last night and the tech says Dylan is measuring at 1 lb, 11 oz, so he’s on track with the almost two pounds estimate.  I found out today from my doctor’s office that I passed my glucose test last week.  I was soooo happy because even though you’re not required to fast, I had decided I would try not to eat anything after breakfast to ensure a pass, and at 1:00 decided I couldn’t wait anymore and ate a chicken sandwich from Wendy’s along with half of my fries and half a root beer.  What was I thinking?  My test was at 2!  She said my numbers were on the high side, but still in normal range.  I said “like chicken sandwich, fries, and soda high?”  She said “yes, that sounds about right.”

My sister got to feel Dylan kick for the first time yesterday which was exciting.  I love when other people get to feel what’s going on in there.  I’m carrying way differently this time than I did last.  By this time with Luke I had a nice round basketball belly and there was no mistaking that I was pregnant.  This time I feel like I’m just more round all the way through, so I don’t look definitely pregnant, but I’m still waddling, huffing and puffing my way through everywhere I go.  I’m sleeping much better the past couple of weeks than I was, which I’m so thankful for.  Heartburn is a daily occurrence, multiple times per day.  Tums takes care of it right away usually.  I’ve gained 3-4 only thank goodness.  I know I’ll be packing on those lbs in the 3rd trimester, so I’m glad the weight gain stayed under control for the first two.

I guess that’s about it for now, I have both of the boys’ new bedding and some Etsy letter blocks that I had to have after seeing Maisy’s adorable blocks, and Dylan’s probable home from the hospital outfit, so I’ll share all of that soon when every single room in my house isn’t a total disaster.

Randomness

I’m just getting around to posting some pictures from last weekend…
My Mom’s birthday was 5/28 and we went to Sakura to celebrate.  Luke loved Sakura when we went a couple months ago and laughed so hard when Tommy caught a shrimp in his mouth.  This time, he was so scared when they lit the grill on fire and cried when Tommy caught the shrimp!  Needless to say, no Sakura for a while…

happy now that it’s all over :)

We also went to Jessica Gilroy’s baby shower for Baby Gracie who’s coming in July.

We opened the pool and had lots of visitors coming over to test the water… which was freezing by the way!

This Friday we went to Callie’s baby shower Friday night and the only pictures I took were Luke eating cupcakes!

Saturday I had a bunch of girlfriends over for a Pajama Jammy Jam.  Everyone came over around 6 in their jammies and we ate, played board games, sang karaoke, and laughed our butts off all night.  I stayed up waaaay past my bedtime and had SO much fun!  I LOVE my friends and family so much.  Tommy and Luke went down the street to hang out with Willie and Jake and they had a good time, too.

Today was such a nice relaxing day.  We went to the mall and bought Tommy some new clothes and took a nice afternoon nap when Luke went down :)  I’m not usually much of a napper, but pregnancy is a whoooole different story.

Here’s my silly boy with his shorts on his head.  He likes to put anything on his head and call it a hat.  Please excuse the crackers in his mouth.  Seems he always has crackers in his mouth these days.

I guess that’s it for now, I’ll try to be better about updating this week!  I have another sonogram on Wednesday night and maybe we’ll finally get to see baby Dylan’s face!!
